The impact of reflection on your sales!

How often do you reflect as a Sales Leader?

Practically every one of my clients work at high speed…travelling fast on the surface of everything…thinking fast, acting fast, communicating fast. Fast, fast, fast.

When we work in this way all of the time…so much is being missed. It takes real discipline to slow down and in that slowing down magic happens. You start to notice things that you didn’t notice before, you have space to think and you become more approachable as a leader.

Funny how we resist slowing down!

What can you do if you work in a 100 miles per hour environment?

If you can only afford to give yourself some thinking time at one point in the day then be sure to do this at the end of the day. Ask yourself:

What went well today?

What didn’t go as well as I would have liked?

What will I do differently going forward as a result of what I learned from my experiences today?

Spending 10 minutes thinking about your responses to these questions makes you a better version of yourself each day. You’ll develop on an ongoing basis…your thinking becomes clearer, the way you feel about yourself improves, your actions have more impact and your results increase.

You need to slow down to get more done…it’s a paradox!

How about your sales team?

How often do they reflect in this way?

It’s easy to create a reflection culture and has a huge impact on improving their behaviours and results. Every time you speak with them individually ask them…

What’s going well? Celebrate with them

What’s a challenge right now? Empathy in huge doses required here…resist the temptation to jump in and fix things.

What have you learned from these experiences? Stay silent and let them answer in their own way. Possible coaching opportunity.

How will you use this learning going forward? Stay silent. Possible coaching opportunity here to support them in their ongoing actions.

Their responses give you both insights…for you into their map of the world…and for them ways to continually improve their mindset and behaviours.

It’s a win/win!

So taking time to reflect isn’t a luxury…it’s a necessity if you’re serious about improving mindset!

Until next time,

Leigh 😊
